Job Description


The Vice President of Network Intelligence is a newly created position within Beacon Health Options. This person may be based out of any Beacon Health Options location. The role, reporting directly to the Sr. Vice President of Network Strategy will lead a team responsible for developing insights into Beacon’s network of providers by asking the questions that answer how the network is and should be constructed and how well is it performing on the dimensions of cost, access and clinical quality. The leader will develop a team of analysts that will be responsible for asking and developing the answers to these questions by leveraging the company’s increasingly sophisticated analytics platform and by mining the interactions our 40 million members have across our network. Demonstrated pursuit of the answers to these questions by highlighting a track record in other settings will be the principal attribute of the successful candidate. A background in healthcare on either the payer or provider side is helpful but not mandatory.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop the core set of data elements and metrics that will allow the leaders of the business and operations areas to answer the questions on cost, quality and access.
  • Develop reports and dashboards that allow the Senior Vice President and the Regional Network Leaders to make strategic decisions about network recruitment and construction, rate setting, and where to develop and enhance our clinical offerings to improve quality outcomes.
  • Support the Network Access improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance supply of qualified providers.
  • Perform comprehensive claims-data analysis and interpretation to seek insights into network performance.
  • Partner with our enterprise analytics team to ensure our “data platform” can address the questions we need answered by ensuring the quality of our data by ferreting out inaccurate data, out-of-date data, or hard-to-interpret data.
  • Develop a team of analysts to work with data platform and train that team to know what data is relevant and what different stakeholder groups within the organization truly need to make better decisions.
  • Performing rigorous strategic and financial analysis to pinpoint appropriate, practical recommendations relative to the provider network.
  • Performs analyses to assess provider trends, network adequacy and optimize company performance.
  • Collaborating with team members to derive trends, conclusions and recommendations based on the data and analyses.
  • Manage multiple tasks, be detail oriented, be responsive, and demonstrate independent thought and critical thinking.
  • Ad hoc market analysis for projects and other deliverables
  • Collaborates cross functionally to deliver on company initiatives
  • Introducing new Network Management employees to departmental analytic tools and reporting dashboards
  • Ability to directly and successfully lead, mentor and develop a talented team of high-performing individuals in a fast-paced environment

Position Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in business, mathematics, statistics or other related field required; advanced education including Master’s and/or PhD a plus

Relevant Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of predictive modeling experience with analytical, statistical, logical reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other applications (SAS, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, etc)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex statistical data and/or to develop forecasts and predictive models.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in health insurance or other related field preferred
  • 3 years in Leadership position, with demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed organization environment
  • Demonstrated analytic and strategic problem solving skills
  • Ability to create and deliver executive level presentations
