ABOUT THE POSITION

We are currently seeking a dynamic Vice President, Medical Director (Psychiatrist) to join our team at our office in Roseland, NJ.  The VP, Medical Director will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading the medical utilization, network medical/clinical quality management, and medical policy programs to ensure quality, cost-effective development, implementation and integration of core behavioral health operations for members and oversees patient safety.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, and directs the service center’s medical policy, programming, and utilization initiatives to ensure contractual compliance and the most efficient, cost-effective care for members. Provides broad-based leadership to all functional areas and participates in organization-wide strategic planning and program development.
  • Conducts peer clinical review by telephone or in person; to discuss review determinations with providers when available.
  • Available and consults on cases referred by Care Managers or their supervisors to ensure quality and consistent application of Beacon Health Options policies and procedures within the limits of the client benefits plan.
  • Works with Quality Management to assure clinical soundness of quality initiatives and performance improvement program including co-chairing the Quality and Utilization Management Committees.
  • Collaborates and builds effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including providers to advance the mission and values of the service center and to promote and build consensus in program/policy development related to behavioral health services.

Position Requirements:

Education: MD or DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) from an accredited medical school and board certification in psychiatry by the Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Board certification by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians is preferred.

Licensure:  Unrestricted medical license to practice independently in the state(s) where employed (i.e. current and unrestricted medical license in psychiatry or osteopathy).

Relevant Work Experience:   Five years of post-residency clinical practice with at least two years managed mental health care experience
