About The Position:

The VP of Accounting works in conjunction with the SVP, Controller to oversee the general ledger accounting and internal reporting functions.  This oversight includes monthly close, account reconciliations, billing and collections, as well as active involvement in the external audit process. The VP, Accounting is responsible for the maintenance of the Company’s accounting policies and procedures to ensure a strong internal control environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and supervision of the general ledger accounting team
  • Responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual close process, to ensure timely and accurate financial statements
  • Responsible for consolidation of regional and legal entity results for reporting to Controller, CFO and regional CFOs, to include actual vs. budget variance analysis
  • Oversight and supervision of the cash management/reconciliation, fixed asset and unclaimed property reporting team
  • Responsible for proper application on a monthly basis of revenue recognition rules.
  • Plays a key role in the interim and year-end external audit, working in conjunction with the Director of Technical Accounting.  Responsible for the implementation of agreed-upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting from audit findings.
  • Ensures that the accounting department is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities noted above.  Responsible for continued development of their team.
  • Will have direct management responsibility of the following:  General Ledger Accounting Managers and Accounting Manager, Fixed Assets and Cash
  • Assists in special projects as needed

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelors in Accounting
  • Licenses: CPA (active)

Relevant Work Experience: 

  • Minimum 12 years of experience, including management of large teams
  • 8-10 years of experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting required
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills are mandatory
