About the Position:

We are currently seeking a dynamic UM Clinical Trainer for our Boston, MA location! The UM Clinical Trainer reports directly to the VP of UM Operations and Strategy and is responsible to conduct live and remote trainings specific to clinical and operational responsibilities for the UM Shared Services staff. This includes: preparing training materials, training, assessing learning and providing coaching and feedback to participants in the classroom (virtual or in-person).  The Clinical Trainer is responsible for working with the Clinical Training Corporate Manager to develop UM technical writing and design new training courses.  The UM Clinical Trainer will work closely with the Beacon’s Corporate training department to leverage training and UM best practices.

Position Responsibilities:

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Complete paperwork for Training, including weekly status reports
  • Complete Training tracking in the Relias Learning Management System
    • Progress notes/feedback to Ops management team
  • Update UM Shared Services Training calendar
  • Develop and revise department Policy and Procedures
  • Document workflows

Training Responsibilities:

Work with the VP of UM Operations to:

  • Provide in-person instructor led training and remote/WebEx training for any UM non-clinical and clinical training
  • Develop and manage clinical/operations trainings on a monthly basis
  • Complete UM Quality monitoring and identify training/development needs
  • Support new UM business implementations through training on accounts, systems, documentation, policies and procedures and standards of operation
  • Provide assistance with clinical system enhancement requests, testing, and training, as required
  • Provide training on the use of NICE and UM audit tool
  • Perform interrater reliability training and testing, including ensuring all staff performing UM activities comply with the IRR

Instructional Design Requirements:

Work with the AVP of Training and the Clinical Training Manager to:

  • Apply instructional design methods when developing courses
  • Complete Needs Analyses for new programs
  • Design learning objectives
  • Make recommendations for training methods based on audience needs
  • Develop course materials, including course evaluations
  • Implement new training programs
  • Make recommendations for improvements for existing courses

Technical Writing Requirements:

Work with the AVP of Training and the Clinical Training Manager to:

  • Create reference materials using the Standards of Technical Writing and Beacon Training Style Guide, including: training guides, job aids, and online documentation
  • Interview subject matter experts (SMEs) to obtain content for documentation
  • Use the standard draft and review guidelines for the Training Department

Other Requirements:

  • Conduct testing as a regression tester for system updates and new system enhancements and implementations
  • Audit new employees and employees with training needs, to support the managers (may include performing NICE audits)

Position Requirements:

  • Education: M.S. Degree in the mental health field or a B.S. level RN required
  • Licensure: Current, valid and unrestricted license in a state or territory of the United States in a mental health field (RN, Ph.D, LMSW/LCSW, MHC, LLP, LPC, etc.) required
  • Travel: Position requires travel up to 15%
  • Relevant Work Experience: 5 years of healthcare experience required, 2 years of experience must be in managed care
