About the Position:

The SVP, Provider Strategy will establish and direct Beacon’s strategic vision and objectives for the provider network to include new network development and business growth, network operations, provider relations and contracting and alternative payments strategy. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the Senior Vice President of Network Management and Regional Vice Presidents of Provider Strategy, establish the company’s strategic vision and objectives for the provider network.
  • Oversee network development staff and external consultants in the development of provider networks across growth markets. Support Regional market expansion activities.
  • Oversee the Corporate Value Based Payments team and partner closely with the Regional Vice Presidents of Provider Strategy to establish and implement alternative payment programs.
  • Partner with Corporate Product & Strategy to create new provider network products and client offerings.
  • Establish network strategies specific to Beacon’s various lines of business including commercial health plans, Medicaid, Medicare and employer.
  • Oversee analyses of the provider network from a cost, coverage, and growth perspective. Provide leadership in evaluating opportunities to expand or change the network to meet Company goals.
  • Oversee analysis of claim trend data and/or market information to derive conclusions to support contract negotiation.
  • Ensure strategic focus is on target with overall Company strategy.
  • Leverage strong knowledge of regional State and Federal regulations, laws and legislative agendas regarding healthcare industry that impact Beacon and our provider network
  • Deliver improved client and provider satisfaction and operational efficiencies through the execution of strategic programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree required, with advanced degree preferred (specifically MBA, MPH or MSW).
  • Relevant Work Experience:  Fifteen (15) or more years of progressively responsible professional experience. Three-five (3-5) years healthcare payor (including managed care) experience,  2+ years of enterprise-wise program management experience at the executive level, 2+ years’ experience with design & implementation of successful value-based payment or other alternative payer-provider arrangements, Five (5) or more years’ experience with provider network development and contracting, Experience and comfort with financial model and detailed data analysis.
