About the Position:

We are currently seeking a dynamic SQL Developer III to join our team at our office in Pennsylvania.  The SQL Developer III is primarily responsible for providing decision support through reporting and data analysis to support Beacon’s internal and external customers as well as the production development team.  Duties include the operation and maintenance of activities necessary to ensure timely production and dissemination of accurate reports to management and clients, hands-on new development as well as support, maintenance, or enhancement of existing production processes.  The SQL Developer III leads and manages mid-level projects, enterprise objectives and strategic initiatives and acts as a resource to department team members and external departments in the day-to-day functions of the department.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conducts data analysis, designs and develops standardized management reporting tools
  • Conducts ongoing requirement analysis for data needs for department/account managers and customers
  • Creates technical specifications documents for all internal production and client reports
  • Ensures reports are created and generated accurately and timely for review, analysis, and subsequent submission to customers
  • Provides analytical services for business data needs and makes recommendations for viable solutions
  • Addresses data integrity issues as they arise
  • Troubleshoots data issues, validates result sets, recommends and implements process improvements
  • Effectively communicates with customers to elicit, capture, develop, and implement customer requirements
  • Conducts project-based data analysis and ad-hoc reports
  • Analyzes and evaluates request for reports and develops procedures to extract data from various sources using report writers and data extraction tools
  • Leads and manages mid-sized projects involving client engagement
  • Guides, supports and advises junior members of the team
  • Displays a positive, constructive, and helpful demeanor to assist team members and offer suggestions that improve processes, culture or working environment
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned and required


Position Requirements: Four years of work experience in healthcare or insurance, managed care preferred.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, business systems administration or related field is preferred.
  • Four years of work experience in healthcare or insurance, managed care preferred.
  • Mastery of relational DB concepts, with three years of Oracle or MSFT experience.
  • One year of experience with Beacon systems (Connects and FlexCare) or potential and commitment to attain intermediate proficiency within one year. Two years of hands-on Crystal or SRSS experience and can demonstrate expert proficiency
  • Sophisticated business acumen and ability to solve complex problems related to Beacon clients.
