Job Description

Supervises staff and coordinates training to ensure team meets or exceeds production, accuracy and performance standards when processing SCA requests.  Coaches, develops and manages performance of Provider Outreach Specialists. Ensures staff follows established policies and procedures and achieves goals and objectives.  The SCA Supervisor also works with the various units within Clinical, Customer Service and Network Development to ensure appropriate resolution occurs when problems or errors are identified.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supervises daily operation of the SCA team, including task assignments and follow-up.

  2. Provides performance data related to production and accuracy to employees and to management on a timely basis, with appropriate exception reporting.

  3. Ensures all team members are aware of individual and team goals, performance guarantees and status.Provides direction to meet all individual and team requirements.

  4. Directly responsible for coordinating staff training needs.Assists in training asneeded and ensures maintenance of training materials.

  5. Supervises team members, which includes hiring and terminations, ongoing documented supervision, annual reviews, counseling, growth and development, corrective action and employee recognition under the Human Resources Policies and Procedures.

  6. Evaluates staffing requirements and schedules on an ongoing and daily basis to ensure staffing meets team/department goals, making recommendations to Manager of Escalations as appropriate.

  7. Responsible for producing reports which monitor all activities within area of responsibility.


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in the insurance industry, with one year of healthcare experience preferred.

  • Strong leadership characteristics and ability.

  • Professional demeanor, strong written and oral communication skills, strong computer skills, and the ability to learn Beacon’s internal systems.

  • Ability to learn quickly.

  • Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized and possessing problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage varying job pressures, and meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to work in a production environment and meet production and quality goals.

  • Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft office programs (Outlook, Word and Excel), Adobe PDF creator and internet searches. Experience working with fax machines, copiers and other office machines.
