General Summary

The Clinical Manager/Director, Provider Programs and Strategy will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team charged with designing and executing provider engagement, aggregate data management, and performance improvement through a shared provider strategy and varied projects.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • The Manager/Director reports to the AVP, Provider Partnerships and assists with leading integration of Beacon’s network providers and Clinical/Quality strategy, bringing Beacon’s mission into practice through provider facing interventions.
  • The Clinical Manager/Director, Provider Programs and Strategy serves important functions in the department, including five key program offerings: Project ECHO, Clinical components of VBP programs, Provider Quality infrastructure, National Select program, and provider impact on HEDIS strategy. 
  • In addition to these strategic responsibilities, the Clinical Manager/Director is responsible with minimal oversight for key initiatives within Provider Programs and Clinical Strategy through all phases of the program, including operational program design, development, implementation, support, and evaluation. 
  • Initially, this role is focused on Beacon’s Project ECHO initiatives, with support to other department programs and an ability to expand as programs are developed over time, including contribution to a strategy allowing for expansion of Project ECHO and other clinical programs. 
  • For all programs/products, the Clinical Manager/Director offers clinical leadership to customers, health plans, and senior level staff at providers.
  • Independently manages the day-to-day operations of 2-4 ECHO clinics, including coordination of ECHO clinic initiatives and deliverables. Leads planning and oversight of assigned teams’ activities, in coordination with the AVP, Provider Partnerships and consistent with the vision and strategy of the ECHO Leadership Team.
  • Oversees implementation of Project ECHO initiatives and the day-to-day management of the team working with the Spokes (providers), integrating quality improvement strategies based on the needs of spokes and or stakeholders
  • Provide direct guidance and coaching in the implementation of teleECHO clinics
  • Participates in teleECHO clinics and training activities
  • Facilitates trainings and teleECHO clinics
  • Assists with the development of tracking and evaluation programs to assist in the accomplishment of established project goals and objectives
  • Collaborates with team members on ECHO educational curriculum/materials
  • Develops/implements ECHO training programs
  • Familiar with all aspects of the Provider Quality program, the Manager/Director gathers information from regional stakeholders, organizes and modifies an infrastructure to support field based MPPs and their supervisors. 
  • This position includes an ability to analyze data, enough to engage others on interpreting and presenting data within context, supporting Beacon’s mission and vision, as well as using data to inform clinical decisions.
  • Develop training materials for Provider Quality training programs
  • Ongoing monitoring and maintenance of Provider facing materials SharePoint and materials housed within
  • Serve as administrator for the Provider Partnerships SharePoint site
  • Implement measures to determine success of Provider Quality program, based on department goals and vision
  • Lead operational interface between Clinical and VBP team, including review of clinical reports, participation and input into training materials for VBP, development of workflows for provider interface with Beacon through VBP models
  • The person and the product require a mix of standardization and efficiency, combined with the ability for regional flexibility.
  • The Clinical Manager/Director demonstrates interest and experience in innovative clinical programming, comfort with ambiguity as programs evolve, experience as a behavioral health provider and in engaging behavioral health providers to work collaboratively with managed care.

Minimum Entry Level Qualifications

  • Education:    

Master’s degree in behavioral health field required

  • Licenses:
  • Independent licensure required, may include LICSW, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, RN, PhD
  • Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
  • Minimum of five years’ professional experience required in behavioral health, at a provider and/or managed care setting. 
  • Leadership experience in managed care and/or behavioral healthcare strongly preferred. 
  • Experience working as a teacher or trainer is valuable as well.
