Beacon is currently seeking a Provider Outreach Specialist, Supervisor to join our team at our Latham, NY office. This position is responsible for supporting the SCA team members, overseeing day-to-day workflow, timely and accurate completion of daily reports and assignments, including but not limited to, monitoring and maintaining work queues, timely completion of Provider follow-ups, and assigning/ triaging events. Responsible for developing training materials and training staff, as well as identifying and proposing process improvements to better achieve production and quality goals.

What does a typical day look like?

  • Assist with managing daily workflow of the SCA team to maintain turnaround time standard as set by management.
  • Train, guide, support and advise junior members of the team.
  • Display a positive, constructive, and helpful demeanor to assist team members and offer suggestions that improve processes, culture or working environment.
  • Assist management with identifying opportunities for staff improvement, high- performing team members, and training needs of team members.
  • Provide technical assistance to team members.
  • Assign work to assure appropriate workloads and timely completion.
  • Using production and quality audit results, provide staff feedback and perform individual and group training as indicated.
  • Investigate potential issues prior to returning inquiries to the Clinical team or events to Provider Data for further research or resolution.
  • Analyze inquiry and silo report trends to proactively identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide training to new staff and training as necessary to existing staff.
  • Develop and maintain tracking spreadsheets developed by request of Management.
  • Assist with developing and updating policies and procedures, workflows and training documents.
  • Collaborate with Clinical, Claims, Network Operations, Contracting and other Beacon staff to resolve SCA issues.
  • Monitor turnaround time reports to ensure assigned work is completed within acceptable time tables and notify management in the event that timeliness standards are at risk.

What you Contribute?

Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Licensure: NA

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 2.5 years’ experience in insurance, medical, healthcare or related field required, including one year of credentialing experience.
  • Strong leadership characteristics and ability.
  • Professional demeanor, strong written and oral communication skills, strong computer skills.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized and possessing problem-solving skills, including tracking and trending results to identify potential process and resource improvement.
  • Ability to manage varying job pressures, and meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a production environment and meet production and quality goals.
  • Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft office programs (Outlook, Word and Excel), Adobe PDF creator and internet searches. Experience working with fax machines, copiers and other office machines.
