About the Position:

The Proposal Specialist II is responsible for managing and writing responses to basic and complex health plan, commercial, direct-to-state Medicaid, and federal Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Information (RFIs) and providing support to Sales staff for presentations and off-the-shelf proposals under strict, non-negotiable deadlines. This individual works collaboratively with senior leadership, marketing, sales, subject matter experts, and consultants across the organization to ensure responses are compliant with proposal requirements, positioned with the agreed-upon strategy, and in line with sales/marketing and corporate messaging and style.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Independently project manages, coordinates, and facilitates basic and complex commercial, health plan, direct-to-state Medicaid, and federal business development projects (e.g., RFPs, RFIs) from initial receipt through delivery in a timely and quality-driven manner
  • Develops and writes proposal content to boast win themes and tie together messaging
  • Assists Sales staff with executive summaries, cover letters, presentations, and off-the-shelf proposals
  • Verifies facts, dates, and statistics referenced in department deliverables using standard reference sources, internal resources, and subject matter experts
  • Consults and collaborates with senior leadership, sales, marketing, product development, subject matter experts, and consultants across the organization to ensure sales positioning is concurrent with sales strategy for each proposal by facilitating and participating in strategy sessions
  • Interfaces with sales and finance staff to ensure that pricing is accurately integrated into proposal documents
  • Organizes responses in compliance with client requirements
  • Edits and proofreads documents for content, grammar, style, and formatting to ensure compliance with the Corporate Style Guide and prevailing department standards
  • Responsible for communicating and keeping current regarding all program, technical, product/ service enhancements and any other changes as they occur
  • Contributes to creating and distributing information on improving processes to team and business partners
  • Collaborates with department leadership on special projects and quality initiatives (e.g., professional development and training, standard content maintenance, team workgroups)

Position Requirements:

Education: Bachelor degree in Technical and Professional Communication, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related field required or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Relevant Work Experience: At least five years of knowledge capture and writing experience in marketing and/or proposal development experience required. Knowledge and working experience in a sales communication/marketing environment is required. Knowledge and working experience in marketing or proposal development for health care services is strongly preferred.
