General Summary: This position’s core responsibility is to perform ongoing analysis in support of Operations drive to increase effectiveness, efficiency and understanding of drivers of performance and current and future barriers.  This is accomplished through a timely delivery of reports, dashboards, scorecards and ad hoc analysis.

The Operations Business System Analyst I / II can be located in Boston, MA, Woburn, MA, Latham, NY or remote from any of our Beacon offices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development of data driven analysis and to perform root cause analysis to determine drivers and trends.  Calculating and recommending actions needed to meet SLAs, PGs and other metric goals.
  • Partner with business owners to determine requirements for data, reports, analysis, service level development, data quality, and performance.
  • Function as a liaison between Knowledge Management and Reporting, Regions, Operations shared services and other Corporate Entities.  This will include being able to make informed recommendations for efficient and effective approaches to completing projects/tasks.
  • The position is expected to be an SME in more than one area of Operations such as Customer Service, claims processing, Network Operations, etc.
  • Develop staffing models for operational areas, lead standing meetings with business owners to review data trends and changes to understand performance drivers and identify opportunities for improvement/efficiencies.
  • Responsible for the research, development and delivery of timely and accurate ad hoc reports that meet the agreed upon threshold for timely measurement.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating progress and status of requests to the end-user and for fostering good customer relationships with our customers.
  • Responsible for acting as a mentor for Business Systems Analyst I and Data Analyst positions.  This will include assisting with training activities and providing day-to-day project/task guidance.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the direct supervisor is continually made aware of the status of each project/task and informed when roadblocks are encountered and/or deliverables are at risk.
  • Responsible for proactively reviewing assigned data and researching any trends, anomalies or outliers and bringing finding and hypotheses to the attention of direct management and business owners.
  • Responsible for questioning the data and explanations to ensure alignment between both.
  • Provide assistance to Operations projects lead by the unit VP, AVP, or BA III, and field ad hoc requests as needed to support Corporate Operations.

Minimum Entry Level Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; preference given to those candidates with a degree in the Accounting, Statistics, Epidemiology, Business, or like degree. If no degree then 2-4 years of experience in an analytical environment.

Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:  Proficiency in using software and tools for data analysis and other office computing software applications (word processing/spreadsheet) is required.  Experience in analyzing and interpreting data using inferential statistics.  Two to four years of diverse experience in data analysis, applied research, program evaluation or statistics in the social sciences.  Two to four years of diverse experience in health care operations helpful.
