Beacon is currently seeking a Manager Provider Relations a highly organized and compassionate professional to join our team at our Little Rock, AR office.  The Manager, Provider Relations is responsible for oversight of day-to-day operations and manages the work flow of the Provider Relations Representatives; including, but not limited to, daily coordination of work load with staff, performance management, and higher level support and guidance with provider relations issues and/or inquiries. This position will support and execute provider relations aspects of the provider strategy for existing business as set forth by leadership and acts as a liaison to ensure that all appropriate departments are effectively informed.

What does a typical day look like?

  1. Lead a team of Provider Relations Representatives focused on internal customer and client satisfaction, compliance with internal, client, regulatory and accreditation standards, successful audits, and provider engagement.
  2. Ensure day-to-day activities are performed effectively and support the larger network strategy, including meeting financial targets.
  3. Develop, implement and maintain production and quality standards for the provider relations team. Train, educate and motivate team members to reach department goals and objectives.
  4. Consistently strive to improve provider satisfaction by communicating with providers, identifying root cause of provider issues, developing and executing strategy to resolve provider issues. Engage operational business partners as necessary to track and resolve ongoing provider issues with care and urgency.
  5. Serve as the network escalation point for network and provider issues for regional and shared service leadership.
  6. Support the regional Director of Provider Relations in meeting internal and external performance standards and guarantees.
  7. Develop strong relationships with network providers. Provide timely and effective communication for problem resolution, training and education. Manage and balance Beacon and provider expectations.
  8. Support a provider servicing strategy that is aligned with overall regional and corporate provider partnership strategies. Uphold guidelines around frequency, content and measurement of service standards to ensure compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
  9. Develop and maintain assignments for provider relations representatives based on ability, strategic focus or other corporate or departmental priorities.
  10. Maintain in-depth, accurate and current working knowledge of all relevant policies and procedures, and acts as a departmental SME for provider relations department.
  11. Responsible for resource development, updates and maintenance of provider orientations, training materials and provider manuals that align with the provider contractual responsibilities and Beacon policies and procedures.
  12. Assist with preparation and dissemination of provider communications such as newsletters, provider manual, mailings, and training programs to educate providers on plan policies or engage them in specific initiatives.
  13. Act as a key resource to external providers and internal key stakeholders as it pertains to operational issues impacting provider satisfaction.
  14. Collaborate with the designated team(s) to transition new business for ongoing operations.
  15. Report on and trends operational issues, analyzes root cause and implements solutions. Engage internal business partners as needed.
  16. Maintain and track measurement of network adequacy by timely dissemination of access and availability surveys.
  17. Partner with management to identify areas of opportunity within the provider relations department and make improvements on processes, culture, or work environment.
  18. Perform special projects, data analysis, develop specific action plans, and other duties as assigned by the department lead to successfully perform the role.

What you Contribute?

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.

Licensure: N/A

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 2 – 3 years of supervisory experience, demonstrating superior people leadership skills
  • At least 3 years of provider relations experience in a similar role
  • 3 – 5 years of healthcare payor experience. Prefer strong knowledge of managed care network and provider operations, including general familiarity with managed care claims, eligibility, capitation, compliance, utilization management and quality topics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
