Job Description


We are currently seeking a dynamic MANAGER, CLINICAL OPERATIONS to join our team at our office in Newark, NJ.  The Manager, Clinical Operations will be responsible for providing orientation, ongoing training, staff auditing, and coordination/oversight of the mental health and substance abuse service activities of the clinical and clinical support team members under the supervision of the AVP and Director of Clinical Operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of mental health and substance abuse treatment and prevention techniques, criteria and guidelines.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of assigned contracts, benefits, work flows, contract requirements, performance guarantees, and applicable regulations and accreditation standards; provides oversight of standards compliance; and acts as a mentor to assigned staff on standards.
  • Assists with hiring, monitoring staff performance, and monitoring performance improvement actions as requested.
  • Facilitates implementation of department policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Oversees performance of clinical and clinical support staff by conducting staff audits, running and utilizing Telecom reports, assessing assigned performance measure data, and real-time mentoring.
  • Assures adequate staffing resources by managing daily attendance and case assignments.
  • Interacts with care managers in reviewing cases and utilization patterns, and organizes doctor rounds schedules and case presentations.
  • Participates in workgroup geared towards redesign of systems and clinical processes as assigned by the Director of Clinical Operations.
  • Participates in the quality improvement program by membership on the Senior Quality Committee and sub-committees as appropriate; and monitoring compliance with URAC, company clinical standards, and patient safety objectives.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Operations and medical affairs staff as needed to maintain good information flow and operational efficiency
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality and ethical/professional standards and mentors others on these standards as needed.
  • Maintains a supportive environment that encourages diversity, teamwork and open communication.

Position Requirements:

Education: Master's Degree required (Bachelor's Degree if an RN)

Licensure Current, valid and unrestricted license in New Jersey (RN, Ph.D., LCSW, LPC, etc.)

Relevant Work Experience: 3 years applied clinical experience; 1-3 years supervisory experience. Past experience in Utilization Management required, past experience in motivational interviewing and care management preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Critical thinking skills and ability to work independently
  • Computer and typing skills necessary - Proficiency with MS Office a must
