About The Position:

The Healthcare Analytics Team Lead serves as the analytic lead with clinical, network and regional business partners and on major projects to support the Analytic Innovation Center’s in-depth analyses exploring population health outcomes, quality of care, utilization and costs, as well as assessments of impacts of specific changes in interventions, products, policies or legislation. 

The position requires a blend of technical, analytic and project management skills.  The successful individual serves as subject matter expert in multiple data and business areas, performs statistical analysis using analytical tools and techniques such as SQL, SAS, descriptive analyses, statistical analyses, predictive modeling and dash boarding, assists in developing long-term plans that will meet the analytical needs of the organization, and assists leadership in identifying opportunities to utilize data for better decision making. 

 The Team Lead is responsible both for some hands on execution (designing analytic plans, building the datasets for their own projects, coding the outcomes and performing statistical comparisons) and for thinking through work strategically to delegate execution and combine results for seamless presentation.  The individual is expected to train, mentor, delegate to and plan out work for junior analytic staff while supporting management in project planning and execution. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Understand business partners’ goals regarding population health management, health and economic outcomes, quality of healthcare, and product design.  Develop a vision to meet those goals via analytics, determine requirements and design analyses to drive insights for their decision making.
  • Extract, analyze, and interpret healthcare utilization and financial data per analytic plan utilizing software for data analysis, extraction, and manipulation (e.g. SAS, SQL), data visualization (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) and analytic automation (e.g. scripting, macros).
  • Ensure team appropriately QAs their work along the way, documents processes and findings per department standards and results are validated.
  • Design and conduct evaluation studies to assess effectiveness of initiatives and new products
  • Present findings in best manner for end user- interactive dashboards, story boards or slide decks.  Tell the story of the analysis and findings.
  • Effectively establish and maintain working relationships
  • Assist in developing long-term plans that will meet the analytical needs of the organization, and assist leadership in identifying opportunities to utilize data for better decision making. 

Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Graduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Epidemiology, Public Health or related analytical discipline preferred.
  • Graduate degree and 3 years’ experience or 5 years’ combined

Relevant Work Experience:

  • Excellent quantitative analytic capabilities
  • Strong analytic curiosity and innovative problem solving skills using a systems thinking approach.

  • Drive to support business partners
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a dynamic team structure
  • Minimum two years experience manipulating and analyzing data from large relational database files
  • Strong SQL, SAS (or similar) coding experience and database management
  • Experience developing peers
  • Experience planning out project-sized work and analytic plans
