ABOUT THE POSITION

We are currently seeking a dynamic Health & Wellness Coach to join our team at our office in Chesapeake, VA office.  The Health & Wellness Coach provides telephone coaching services on health and wellness issues, work issues, and life related transition issues via the telephone and internet; must prescribe to the ICF code of Ethics and demonstrate a clear working knowledge of IF Professional Coaching Core Competencies which include the ability to set the foundation of the coaching relationship by meting ethical and professional guidelines and establishing the coaching agreement with prospective and new clients.  Must have the ability to co-create the coaching relationship by establishing a coaching presence based on mutual trust.  This position must be able to communicate effectively with the coaching client by using direct communication, powerful questioning, and active listening skills.  Additionally, this position must be able to facilitate learning and results with the coaching client by creating awareness, and designing actions as well as demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain an effective coaching plan with the coaching client and manage the progress of the client while holding them accountable 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides telephonic coaching services via phone and internet on health and wellness issues such as weight loss, smoking cessation, chronic illness as well as everyday work and life issues such as stress, work/life balance and the like.
  •   Collaborates with coaching participants to identify strengths and create a plan to identify and achieve goals.  Leverages ICF core competencies and other coaching skills to assist the coaching client in following through with coaching skills.
  • Facilitates telephonic coaching groups which are formed around common areas of interest or need.  Routinely schedules follow up coaching sessions with coaching participants.
  • Maintains confidentiality and ethical professional standards.  Maintains individual productivity and performance standards.
  • Interfaces with internal and external customers to ensure optimal efficiency of service.
  • May be called on to perform other duties and other responsibilities related to the engagement center activities in order to maintain critical processes and programs under the direction of existing policies and procedures.

Position Requirements:

Education:  Master’s degree in mental health related discipline or a minimum of an associate’s degree in nursing with related psychiatric nursing experience.  Prefer candidates to have at least sixty (60) hours of an ACTP Accredited Coach Training classes and ten (10) hours of Mentor Coach Supervision.

Licensures:  Behavioral health background preferred but will consider an RN with experience in Health, Education/Nutrition.  Will accept candidate with two (2) year’s post licensure experience with an LCSW, LPC.  Prefer candidate who is an Associate Certified Coach by the International Coaching Foundation, eligible to sit for the ICF Associate Certified Coach exam, or in the process of becoming certified.  Candidate must be able to maintain an Associate Certified Coach certificate per the International Coaching Foundation guidelines. 

Relevant Work Experience:  Two plus years relevant experience in a coaching environment.  Experience and knowledge of the trans theoretical model and stages of change, positive psychology, motivational interviewing, group coaching, use of coaching measurement tools and experience in providing coaching services using telephone and internet desirable.
