ABOUT THE POSITION

We are currently seeking a dynamic Executive Director to join our team at our office in Chesapeake, VA.  The Executive Director will be responsible for establishing and executing major goals and objectives.  Will provide leadership, direction and guidance of operational activities; analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of all operational functions; develops and maintains operational structure and effective personnel; coordinates major activities through subordinates and appraises assigned personnel.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall program effectiveness and efficiency in EAP service delivery, including cost efficiency.
  • Leads and contributes to the development and implementation of company-wide initiatives.
  • Oversee and supervise to the key personnel.
  • Contributes to the development of marketing strategies, promotion, and materials customized to the target population and culture.
  • Collaborates with others to analyze data from multiple sources to identify risks as well as current clinical conditions; and recommending program supervisors to improve the work environment and current health trends.

Position Requirements:

Education: Master’s and/or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline requiring coursework in counseling or intervention (i.e. Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Human Services).

Licensure:  Certified Employee Assistance Professional is required. Current state license or state certification to practice as a mental health practitioner, (e. g. Social worker, clinical psychologist, marriage and family counselor, professional counselor) in the state(s) where practice takes place.  If such licensure/certification in not available in that state, the individual will hold appropriate certification from a recognized national certification organization or board.

Relevant Work Experience:   A minimum of ten (10) years of health care administration experience as a mental health clinician after graduation, a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the administration of an EAP program on a national level. Specialized training in phone counseling. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable in federal and state laws governing privacy, confidentiality, duty-to-warn, child and elder abuse reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of Employee Assistance Program Core Technology principles and applications.
  • Knowledge of early intervention and counseling techniques appropriate for employees with persona and interpersonal problems, chemical dependency and other addictions.
  • Knowledge of the Privacy Act and other appropriate alcohol and drug abuse patient policies and regulations sufficient to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality, and comply with duty-to-warn, and child and elder abuse reporting requirements.
  • Ability to complete accurate clinical assessments, evaluate client needs and provide appropriate treatment and/or referrals.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing sufficient to provide information, prepare case records and reports, prepare marketing presentations of EAP services, interact with clients in counseling sessions and all EAP services.
  • Ability to use various computer and web-based programs for data entry, preparation of presentations and training modules, and basic writing of reports and memos.
