Job Description


We are currently seeking a dynamic Director of Quality Analytics & Data Visualization to join our team at our office in Rocky Hill, CT!  The Director of Quality Analytics & Data Visualization will focus on the quality and effectiveness of data reporting processes and leading the organization in data visualization solutions that support the overall assessment of the population’s health and quality outcomes, under the direction of the AVP of Advanced Analytics & Data Visualization. The Director will oversee a team of Quality Data Analysts that collectively enhance the quality and effectiveness of presentations and deliverables through the application of quality management processes and the use of visual data and informatics.  The Director and his/her team supports various studies designed to identify unmet needs and target subpopulations. The Director will create and/or supervise the creation of dashboards and data stories to synthesize data, which will aid in real-time interventions and innovation solutions.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Develops and supervises the development of standard and ad hoc reporting and analysis for State clients, internal departments, and for provider reporting that will drive results, encourage strategic decision making, improve quality outcomes, and provide answers to population health questions.
  2. Participates in cross-functional collaboration meetings and discussions, offering analytic and visualization expertise to assist internal and external clients/providers to focus on actions and gain insight to trends.
  3. Responsible for the review and approval of all Tableau interactive dashboards and projects delivered in Tableau, including Tableau Server, if applicable.
  4. Serves as the data design expert.  Supports and supervises the quality analysts and provides consultation to all departments/programs regarding design solutions.
  5. Supports other Tableau users by providing regular and project specific supervision, training and guidance on the uses and functions of Tableau including determining the best method of visualizing the requested data.
  6. Provides consultation to all areas of the organization that plans to use or is using data visualization to create reports or analyze data/reports. Supports any team members in the development of such reports and aids in the automation of visualized products.
  7. Interprets and determines how to visually present data in a clear and effective manner that meets the needs of the state partners and other stakeholders.
  8. Formats data and develops visual reports and/or supervises that process for the following products:  internal and external committee presentations, 1-pagers, dashboards, annual and semi-annual client reports, performance targets and clinical studies.   
  9. Maintains an awareness of current research and innovation in the field of data visualization.  Identifies data visualization tools and techniques that might be utilized by the department to enhance the quality and effectiveness of our products.
  10. Works closely with the Quality Department, Reporting and the other Regional Network Managers regarding the development and implementation of provider analysis and reporting tools.
  11. Serves as a liaison for Regional Network Managers, providing updates from data warehouse and/or other related data meetings as it pertains to development and implementation of Performance Targets and or PAR initiatives.
  12. Provides assistance and direction with ad hoc provider requests from Regional Network Managers.
  13. Attends data informed meetings such as PAR as necessary to be an effective design consultant.
  14. Participates as a member of a performance improvement team and/or task force as needed.
  15. Coordinates and collaborates with department’s corporate-wide, including IT, Quality & Innovation, Data Analytics, Marketing & Communications, Clinical, and Customer Service.
  16. Completes performance evaluations. Works jointly with supervisees to set annual performance goals, and facilitates the development of growth and career development plans for quality analysts.
  17. Works with the guidance of the Director of HR and AVP of Advanced Analytics and Data Visualization to oversee the job performance of assigned staff including monitoring work time, task performance, work behavior, etc.  

Position Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred

Relevant Work Experience:
-Requires 3 to 5 years’ experience in the Healthcare Informatics, Healthcare data analysis and/or insurance industry.
-Prefer 2+ years’ behavioral health/Managed Care experience.
-At least 2 years of experience utilizing Tableau or other similar data analytics/visualization software to solve problems, produce complex interactive dashboards, assess end-user need, and gathering/manipulating/analyzing/portraying data.
-Experience in Tableau Server is a plus. Must have strong leadership and communication skills.
-Supervisory experience preferred.
