About the Position: 

The Director of Crisis Services Product Development will lead in designing, developing, launching and measuring outcomes for new and existing Crisis and related products at Beacon Health Options. He / she will develop products that demonstrate a thorough understanding of the drivers that contribute to the demand for behavioral and public health related programs and solutions.

Leveraging data, market research, industry best practices, proven pilots and solution focused creativity; the Director of Product Development will assist by leading the design and measurement of product effectiveness.

The Director will lead the product work in collaboration with stakeholders across a matrixed model on behalf of the organization. Services include all lines of business and enterprise functions to develop strategies, and execute products that significantly impact positive health outcomes and demonstrates a positive return on investment.

Critical thinking and the ability to identify ongoing product enhancements to ensure a best in class approach to crisis services are a must. Other duties will include:   conducting market research; generating product requirements; determining specifications, production timetables, pricing, and time-integrated plans for product and enhancement launch.  This also include developing key measures and a go to market strategy.  Once launched, the Director must continue to collect market feedback, measure efficacy and integrate new features into the product roadmap for ongoing continuous quality improvement, evaluation and delivery.  

This role reports to the CPO/ GM of Crisis Services and serves a member of  the growth team as it related to product design and requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Determines product design through solution focused assessment of customers' needs, industry best practices, practice based evidence and other general research needed to obtain market information, partnering with Corporate Strategy.
  2. Assesses market competition by comparing the company's product to competitors' products.
  3. Defines target market, go to market strategy and supporting marketing plan; partners with Marketing and other matrixed partners to execute against plan.
  4. Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; evaluating new product ideas and/or capabilities.
  5. Obtains product market share by working with regional sales to develop product sales strategies.
  6. Assesses product market demand and data by inventorying regional account and sales teams, current clients and evaluating sales call results.
  7. Develops full business plan for new and existing products, including customer needs, market sizing, features, operating model and supporting technology, go-to-market strategy, pricing approach and pro-forma.
  8. Once approved, assists to bring new products to market with a phased approach and clear success measures. Drives execution by leading cross-functional matrix team responsible for launch. 
  9. Determines product pricing by leveraging market research data; reviewing operating expense and cost to launch, forecasting volume, and partnering with actuarial / pricing.
  10. Manages product roadmap and updates delivery schedule based on market feedback and internal resource availability. Modifies project plans as needed, inclusive of appropriate metrics, to assess progress against goals with an eye on CQI & performance acceleration
  11. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies

Skill Requirements

  • Strategic and execution oriented self-starter
  • Experience with and exposure to healthcare, ideally in the Behavioral Health sector, preferably in the payor or provider space

Position Requirements:

Education: Undergraduate degree required. MBA or other relevant Master’s level degree strongly preferred.

Work Experience: Ideally, the candidate will have a minimum of 4-7 years of work experience, with a focus on product development in the behavioral healthcare industry.  Healthcare experience and / or clinical program or product development is a requirement .
