Job Description


We are currently seeking a dynamic Director, Behavioral Health Care Management to join our team in New York City, NY!  The  Director will work closely with the BH Children’s Clinical Director, Health Plan staff, providers and agencies to create a program that will improve the health outcomes for the children and youth of New York. They will have oversight of the BH care management teams that will work closely with health plans and health homes coordinating care for children/youth. They maintain a positive interaction with internal and external customers, supporting the overall goals of the NY State Children’s program, Health Plan partners, and Beacon

This employee must work in the State of New York.  There is flexibility for the person to work from home or either our Buffalo or Rochester offices.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the BH Children’s program CM programs creating policies and procedures that support the delivery of SPA/ HCBS services.
  • Ensure appropriate staff education and training regarding NYS Children’s program
  • Create, monitor and evaluate all elements of the BH CM program meeting all Beacon, Health plan and state requirements.
  • Working with internal staff, Health plan staff and providers ensuring quality of care and service for members
  • Works with BH Clinical Director, Care Management staff, and the Implementation Team to support development and implementation of care management programs for health plan partners
  • Attends and participate in Clinical, quality improvement committee meetings as designated and leader for continuous quality improvement teams as assigned.
  • Works closely with BH Clinical Director, Care Management staff, and the Director of Quality Management and Improvement on URAC and NCQA initiatives
  • Interface with Health plans, Health homes and providers as indicated implementing program changes as required, creating process improvement flows when necessary.

Position Requirements:

Education  : Master’s degree or higher, or RN.

Licensure  :  Have either a current, valid, unrestricted independent NYS license in behavioral health or nursing (RN) and practice within the scope of their licensure. Proof required on date of hire with re-verification to take place no less than every three years.

Relevant Work Experience:     

  • Demonstrated work experience meeting strict deadlines and established cycle times through effective prioritization and follow-up skills. 
  • -Minimum of seven years of combined direct behavioral health clinical and managed care experience. 
  • -Minimum of 2 years of managed care.  
  • -Minimum of 5 years experience working with children required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with NYS child-serving systems required.
  • Experience working with Health Homes, community, family-based services, and child-serving systems preferred.
