ABOUT THE POSITION

We are currently seeking a dynamic Customer Service Representative II to join our team at our office in Cranberry/Seven Fields, PA.  The Customer Service Representative is generally is the first point at which Beacon providers or members communicate with the company regarding service requests and questions.  Screens telephone service requests and initiates cases, answers basic inquiries, makes referrals to appropriate Beacon personnel, and provides information concerning certification to providers and subscribers.

Serve as the member's Single Point of Contact for identified members of the PA HealthChoices Program.

Position Responsibilities:

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for initiating cases and making appropriate referrals by:

  • Answering and screening telephone service inquiries and collecting demographic and jurisdictional data;

  • Analyzing member/provider problems and advising caller(s) regarding plan coverage and eligibility;

  • Referring callers requesting service to Beacon resources or outside contractors as appropriate;

  • Verifying benefits against contract requirements prior to initiating the case; and,

  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Education:   High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree or at least two years of college preferred.

Licensure:  n/a

Relevant Work Experience:  Minimum one (1) or more years of experience working in mental health care and/or insurance/claims adjudication environment.  Telemarketing or customer service experience helpful.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic computer skills required, including Word and Outlook; good typing and data entry skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately;Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of accuracy

  • Ability to handle interruptions

  • Ability to use telephone switchboard multi-line systems and other office equipment

  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality

  • Ability to work well under pressure and perform duties in a timely manner

  • Ability to address concerns of dissatisfied and/or angry clients and consumers in a diplomatic manner, and refer problems to appropriate BEACON personnel
