Job Description


We are currently seeking a dynamic Compliance Analyst, Knox-Keene to join our team at our office in Cypress, CA. The Beacon Health Options Compliance Analyst, Knox-Keene will work closely with the Western Region’s AVP of Compliance to support the day to day operations and initiatives of Beacon’s California Knox Keene-Licensed health plan.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the provision of regulatory guidance and support to internal business partners regarding Knox Keene requirements.

  2. Assist in the review and/or creation of ValueOptions of California’s (VOCs) Compliance policies & procedures and updating as needed to ensure policies are accurate, accessible to staff and reviewed at least annually.

  3. Assist with the preparation of and responses to the California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) audit requests.

  4. Assist with the review, interpretation & distribution ofregulatory guidance such as: All Plan Letters, Dual Plan Letters, HPMS Memos & other regulatory notices

  5. Work with internal departments to compile documents for the VOC Public Policy Committee and VOC Board or Directors committee.

  6. Participate in external regulatory meetings such as DMHC round tables

  7. Work with VOC related vendors to lead the submission of materials for DMHC Timely Access review

  8. Work with the VOC/Beacon Health Options Knox Keene functional liaisons to compile and implement regulatory oversight requirements.

  9. Work with the Western Region’s AVP of Compliance to manage and monitor VOC compliance incidents that may include corrective action plans.

  10. Work with all impacted internal business areas and the Western Region’s AVP of Compliance to prepare DMHC behavioral health survey documents.

  11. Monitor progress towards timely submission of all DMHC quarterly, annual and ad hoc reports.

Position Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare, business management or related field or equivalent work experience. Preference will be given to candidates with certifications related to their professional training, such as, Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)®, or Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)®.

Licensure:  N/A

Relevant Work Experience:  

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a health plan setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in CA Knox-Keene Act requirements
  • California health plan experience & behavioral health experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge ofKnox-Keene regulations and DMHC requirements
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritize multiple issues, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to track multiple projects/tasks and follow through as needed
  • Ability to manage and coordinate with internal and external departments
  • Able to work collaboratively with internal staff and external stakeholders (provider organizations, clients, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HPAA regulations and policies
