Job Description


We are currently seeking a dynamic Clinical Department Team Lead to join our team at our office in New York, New York (Manhattan/Bronx) The Clinical Department Team Lead is responsible for operational support of the Clinical Department.  This includes participation in corporate level committees and coordination of service center implementations of various initiatives.

  Position Responsibilities:

Performing Care Management by directing members to an appropriate mental health or substance abuse provider and reviewing care on a regular basis to determine whether treatment meets criteria for Medical Necessity (see duties under Clinical Care Manager job description).

Interviewing, training, and monitoring of Clinical Department staff; including serving as back-up to clinical trainer and provides clinical support and training to new and less experienced CCMs.

Working with the Director of Clinical Case Management and the clinical staff to identify and resolve complex clinical issues related to clinical assessment, referral, and case management.

Collaborating with the Director of Clinical Case Management, Medical Director, Clinical Supervisors, and Clinical Care Managers to identify policy and procedure development needs, including development of appropriate workflows;

Assist the Director of Clinical Case Management with the preparation and submission of statistical reports, as requested by the plan and/or to meet regulatory requirements.

Participation in the implementation and oversight of Corporate and Engagement Center initiatives.

Monitor department performance related to CM processes, including performing documentation audits.

Knowledge of accreditation (URAC [UM and CM] and NCQA) and regulatory standards as well as contract compliance.

Investigate complaints and provide guidance to clinicians regarding client company nuances.

Participation in Client meeting, audits and associated preparations (including chart preparation).

Ability to successfully interact with Account Executives, Clients, and other departments (internal and national) to resolve issues related to assessment, referral, and case management issues as needed.

Serve as expert in all areas of clinical delivery of the department.

Monitor staffing work queue and staff cases as appropriate, including coordinating daily coverage; Leading ICM/Case Management Rounds, including documentation

Coordinate daily coverage, including overseeing and managing the assignment of cases, and carrying a small caseload if needed.

Ability to influence staff morale, including maintaining a “can do” attitude.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Education: Master’s degree in a mental health or related discipline
Licensure:  Valid, unrestricted license as Psychologist, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or RN in the state of NY.
Relevant Work Experience:   Three to five years’ experience in the direct provision of MH/CD services; at least one year as a clinician in the managed care industry.  Advanced computer skills preferred.
