About the Position:

Beacon Health Options is seeking a Claims Department Secretary to join our team in Wixom, MI. The Secretary performs clerical support to managers, supervisors, and their departments to support the business and service needs within the unit.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Generate reports, tables and graphs from system. Creating, correcting, updating and maintaining accurate client records in organized filing system, both manually and via computer. Updating information on CareLink/MHS/RIMS and other software.  Entering data in Excel and other programs. 
  • Sorting, organizing, screening and distributing incoming account/department mail. Preparing and sending outgoing account/departmental correspondence.  Typing, filing, copying and faxing.  Answering telephone, responding to inquiries and appropriately directing callers.
  • Taking, retrieving and appropriately distributing messages timely. Taking notes at meetings and recording accurately all discussion points.  Preparing and distributing meeting minutes, accordingly. 
  • Organizing, sorting and distributing information to a group both manually and electronically. Standard maintenance and scheduling repairs on fax, copier and other office machines.  Ordering and maintaining supplies for the office/department. 
  • Developing and maintaining customer service rapport with customers, clients, providers, vendors, subscribers, co-workers, etc. Interfacing with and providing necessary information to other Beacon departments as requested. Completing tasks within required timeframes.  Providing clerical support as required.  Assisting with special projects as required. 
  • Apply Beacon policies and procedures consistently. Maintain Confidentiality of Clients, Business Records and Reports.  Maintain ethical and professional standards.  Maintain individual productivity and performance standards. 
  • Meet Departmental expectations, accuracy, productivity, and performance standards. Complete tasks accurately within required timeframes.  Support Beacon in achieving Mission Statement.  Adhere to the components of the Compliance Program.   Ensure that job tasks are performed in a legal and ethical manner.  Actively assess work area for non-compliance issues and notifies supervisor or calls Ethics Hotline.  Adhere to compliance training requirements and understand that training is required condition of employment.  
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Relevant Work Experience: 1 year of office / administrative experience required
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
    • Basic knowledge of and ability to use PC based office automation systems including word processors, spreadsheets, databases and other office machines
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to multitask and remain attentive to detail
    • Must achieve the minimal testing scores on the QWIZ Skill Testing program
