Beacon is seeking a Chief Operating Officer who will lead its Strategic Operations Division. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the COO will set the vision and strategy for a variety of operational, transactional and transformational functions across the entire enterprise and on a national scale. Through direct management of Sr leaders, core areas of responsibility include:

  • Claims Operations: 43M claims processed annually across all lines of business
  • Call Center Operations: 3M calls received annually with over 40+ different call types
  • Analytics & Reporting: Managing production reporting, forensic financial and risk reporting and client reporting suites
  • Systems Data Governance and Configuration
  • Quality Assurance and Process Improvement
  • Field Operations

A geographically diverse workforce of over 1000 employees directly contribute to the operations and service delivery of this division. Additionally, this role will work in a matrix across the entire organization to effectively meet the needs of our clients and members.

The COO will collaborate with the executive team to develop and oversee a strategic operating plan and to lead the execution of strategic initiatives supporting service delivery, operational effectiveness, productivity and measurement, compliance and regulatory requirements, business process outsourcing, and integration of people, process and technology applications to support service excellence. Will recruit, lead and develop leading industry talent across all areas of responsibility to support Beacon’s mission, values, strategic operational goals, and commitment to high performance and growth.

In executing the strategic operating plan, will lead transformational change management initiatives, focused execution and disciplined project management, S/he will deliver productivity improvements enabling the organization to increase its competitiveness and fund investment in high value programs and operations. The COO will deliver operational excellence across responsible functions and create an industry leading data analytics platform in partnership with the strategy and clinical teams.

The COO we are looking for will have demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding operating and financial results in a healthcare service or managed care environment. S/he will have demonstrated ability to define operating strategies in complex environments such as post-merger integration, systems migration, operating in multiple states with different operating requirements, and/or rapidly changing market and competitive environments. The COO will have demonstrated ability to work as part of a strong cross-functional team to ensure that the operations deliver on the company’s key success criteria. Specific qualifications include:

  • Accomplished C-Suite operations leader for large, national managed care organization, insurance company, health plan, or healthcare service company.
  • Progressive and diverse experience leading multiple, complex functions across the entire enterprise and on a national scale.
  • Vision for developing and defining operating strategies that drive organizational change/transformation initiatives, efficiency, service, and growth.
  • Has led multiple initiatives integrating people, process, and technology to successfully build operating models, drive change and achieve results.
  • Proven ability managing a geographically diverse workforce, developing talent and building high performance teams.
  • Displays executive command, presence and confidence.
  • Excited by our mission, strategy and business model transformation.

A bachelor’s degree is required. An MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
