Job Description


We are currently seeking a dynamic Area Vice President, Provider Relations & Contracting-Northeast Region to join our team. 

Support and execute provider relations & contracting aspects of the provider strategy for existing business as set forth by Regional Operations and Partnerships leadership. Direct provider relations and contracting activities to maintain and enhance the Regional provider network for existing clients. This person will navigate Beacon’s matrix structure to engage, coordinate and support cross-functional Beacon stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Effectively lead the Provider Relations & Contracting team as evidenced by provider, internal customer and client satisfaction, compliance with internal, client, regulatory and accreditation standards, successful audits, and employee satisfaction and engagement.
  2. Direct provider relations and contracting staff to assure day-to-day activities are performed effectively and support the Region’s network strategy, including meeting financial targets.
  3. Support and participate in the Network Management Department’s process improvement and transformational initiatives to drive completion and successful outcomes.
  4. Assure the Contracting & Provider Relations teams are accountable to the Service Centers and Regional Teams by meeting internal and external performance standards.
  5. Develop strong provider relationships built on trust and collaboration. Manage and balance Beacon and provider expectations.
  6. Responsible for geographic access analysis to identify gaps in the provider network for existing clients.
  7. Execute recruitment plans to address any gaps.
  8. Oversee coordination of practitioner and facility orientation and training.
  9. Collaborate with the Quality and Legal Departments to perform complaint and grievance resolution and communication.
  10. Contribute to provider communications such as newsletters, handbook, mailings, and training.
  11. Collaborate with the Network Development team to transition new business to ongoing operations.
  12. Meet or exceed administrative budget targets and rate contracting targets.
  13. Act as liaison and maintain productive working relationships with all Beacon departments.
  14. Hire, manage and develop a high-performing team.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Entry Level Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required

Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional experience
  • Three (3) years of provider relations and contracting experience
  • Client facing experience preferred
  • Three-five (3-5) years healthcare payor (including managed care) experience preferred
