ABOUT THE ROLE

The AVP, Clinical Strategy will be the clinical subject matter expert and product support for all total health management initiatives.  The AVP will work closely with our Regional Market leadership to develop data-driven, evidence-based programming to meet the needs of our members and clients. The AVP will also support broader clinical strategic initiatives that span across regions. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage clinical strategy initiatives supporting product development for total health management.
  • Design innovative clinical programs for Medicaid members with serious mental illness that address socio-economic factors (e.g., housing) as well as medical needs.
  • Select and expand best practices for scalability across Beacon Enterprise while simultaneously striving for standardization and driving performance, including support on conducting focused pilot studies to evaluate, measure and document effectiveness of clinical, case management and care coordination measures on clinical, quality and financial impact.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future products by reviewing product specifications and requirements; evaluating new product ideas and/or capabilities
  • Provide clinical thought leadership, subject matter expertise and strategic vision for clinical total health initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Beacon mission and vision.
  • Support leadership in defining robust business cases and drive toward benchmarks where appropriate.
  • Communicate and partner with regional leadership on building and communicating total cost of care related strategies
  • Provide management process and coordination of the set of clinical initiatives that will drive towards the total health management goals
  • Work in close collaboration with key partners to prioritize, plan, structure and implement Clinical total health management initiatives on a national level for new acquisitions, as well as emerging and established markets.
  • Contribute to the development of coordination of care initiatives; e.g., chronic condition management, utilization management, and case management that translates to strategies or functional/operational objectives.
  • Lead activity designed to achieve goals that drive best in class clinical outcomes for our members, improve member and provider satisfaction while reducing overall total health expense.
  • Ensure compliance with all requirements (e.g., CMS, NCQA, Health Plan, state).

Position Requirements:

EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Healthcare or related field or RN

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 8+ years of Strategy leadership experience in large and complex healthcare organizations

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively lead, manage and deliver in a fast pace, ever changing environment
  • Ability to foster communications, robust collaboration and strong partnerships amongst Beacon Health Plan partners, provider organizations, vendors and senior / executive leadership
  • Proven ability to deliver results in a matrixed environment to effectively drive efficiencies, define / design / deliver solutions driving medical expense reductions while maintaining or improving outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change at the organizational level
  • Demonstrated ability to build alliances and work across a heavily matrixed organization towards success
  • Innovative thinker
