About the Position:

Beacon Health Options is currently seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our Accumulators team in Latham, NY or remotely! The Senior BSA role requires cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders from both business and development teams to address process deficiencies, improvement initiatives and new business.

The Senior BSA is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of accumulator deliverables to customers for all divisions, as assigned. Through this task/project-based exposure, the Senior BSA is expected to develop subject matter expertise of the business and technical domains, including application data elements and accumulator process workflows. Through research and analysis, the Senior BSA will provide data-driven insight to define solutions, resolve issues and inform strategic direction, exercising both attention to detail and high-level understanding of process impacts to support operations and business objectives, ensuring high quality delivery and adherence to industry and operational standards. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison between business and technical partners to define, document and review business and system requirements, for new business and issue resolution
  • Exercise in-depth knowledge of data exchanges and good judgment in evaluating requests – with appropriate escalation to management, as needed
  • Train, mentor and perform peer review testing for lower-level BSA staff
  • Leverage data from multiple sources to analyze existing business processes and evaluate operational deficiencies. Understand data standards and identify data abnormalities to provide process improvement recommendations
  • Create workflow, state, and process diagrams
  • Perform system configuration updates, crosswalk updates, and scripted data updates
  • Maintain close alignment with all internal and external stakeholders with appropriate levels of communication cross-functionally and across management levels
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert accumulator support for internal and external audits
  • Effectively manage multiple concurrent projects and deliverables with competing deadlines
  • Readily adapt to changing business needs and priorities
  • Ensure that established timelines and resolution turnaround times are monitored, met, and reported regularly, with timely updates documented in the JIRA database and ServiceNow incident/request reporting system, as appropriate
  • Monitor and work the error recycle of file loads for assigned clients to identify trends and maintain low error volume
  • Conduct discovery meetings to gather requirements and participate in design strategy, applying industry standards and best practices to identify solutions and apply protocols and system controls
  • Clearly define, document and analyze detailed use-cases, business requirements, and data mapping and technical specification documents
  • Design and execute test strategy, including test plan, test scenarios/cases, and test scripts. Synthesize and publish the results
  • Define acceptance criteria and identify gaps to ensure high data quality in all solutions delivered
  • Collect all required project documentation and sign-offs
  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a quantitative or analytical discipline; or the equivalent relevant experience is required
  • Relevant Work Experience: 5+ years of experience in related business systems analyst role is required, preferably in a healthcare or health insurance environment
  • Travel: up to 5% overnight and local travel may be required
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
    • Experience with member cost share, claims, benefits, and/or accumulators preferred
    • Experience with standard EDI transactions and proprietary files for accumulators preferred
    • Intermediate experience with relational databases and analytical programming languages such as SQL, to run queries and create reports preferred
    • Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA and Regulatory Compliance required
    • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
    • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills
    • Effective prioritization and task management, and familiarity with all phases of the project lifecycle
