Job Description

Beacon is currently seeking a Director, Clinical Services to join our team at our New York City (Bronx) office. The Director is responsible for daily operations of the Clinical department.  This includes Utilization Management of inpatient and outpatient services and Case Management Services. The Director will ensure policies and procedures are developed meeting all regulatory standards including NCQA, URAC and state requirements. Will interface with client meeting all deliverables as required by contract. The director will work with the medical director and other team members to ensure all Clinical initiatives involving providers and the build out of clinical services are executed as necessary to service all lines of business. Will interface with all operational departments to ensure clinical services are provided in a timely and quality manner.

What does a typical day look like?

1.        Providing direct clinical and administrative supervision to Clinical Departments.

2.      Resolves problems within the UM, CM processes working closely with other departments to ensure all reviews are completed. Ensures complaints, grievances, peer reviews and appeals involving clinical are resolved.

3.      Meets with providers, and other directors to develop a system of care meeting 

      the needs of members.

4.      Working with the Medical Director to identify and resolve complex clinical issues related to clinical assessment, referral, and case management.

5.      Maintaining daily, weekly, and monthly departmental productivity and utilization statistics;

6.      Attends the Utilization Management Committee and the Quality Management committee and its sub-committees. Presenting all client clinical data as necessary

7.       Collaborating with Vice President, Medical Director, Quality Director, Clinical staff to identify policy and procedure development needs;

8.      Ensuring that the department meets or exceeds departmental and account specific performance standards as well as accreditation expectations;

9.      Collaborating and consulting with the Vice President regarding the operations budget;

10.   Working with other departments to resolve issues related to assessment, referral, and case management, as needed;

11.    Participating in the Request for proposal process, site visits and new account implementations as required

12.   Ensures all department needs/deliverables are met

13.   Performing other duties as assigned.

What you Contribute?

Education: A minimum of a B.S. Degree in mental health field or an Associate’s Degree in Nursing with related psychiatric nursing experience.  Masters Degree preferred.

Licensure: Current, valid and unrestricted license in NYS in a mental health field (RN, Ph.D., LCSW/LMSW, LMHC, LPC, etc.).

Relevant Work Experience: Position requires a licensed clinician with five to seven years of clinical operations leadership experience in the delivery of behavioral health/substance abuse treatment services. Knowledge of Public Sector/ Medicaid benefits preferred   Outstanding leadership and coaching skills and the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively (both internally and externally) are required.

  • Intermediate level of knowledge, skill and ability in Analytical and problem solving ability, Interpersonal communication skills, Verbal and written communication skills, Group presentation and public speaking skills,

Collaboration and team-oriented work philosophy

  • Basic or entry level knowledge, skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Exel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project
