Beacon is currently seeking a Clinical Care Coordinator (Patient Service Rep) a highly organized and compassionate professional to join our team at our Cypress, CA office.  The Care Coordinator I will be the initial contact for callers seeking mental health services and substance use treatment, and can quickly identify resources or negotiate difficult situations. An ideal candidate has a commitment to work ethic and team collaboration.

What does a typical day look like?

  1. First line responders at a busy Call Center, providing guidance, support and information to the community, plan members, providers or other service agencies.
  2. Verifies member eligibility for services through state and county information systems.
  3. Enters relevant call notes and information in FlexCare.
  4. Educates callers about specialty mental health services and substance abuse treatment offered through Orange County Mental Health Plan ASO.
  5. Develop a basic knowledge of Levels of Care to ensure referral to the appropriate entity.
  6. Provides community-based and other needed resources to members.
  7. Coordinate with the team (Utilization Review Clinicians, Care Coordinator II) in accommodating member’s needs.
  8. Consistently provides members, providers and internal staff with exceptional customer service.
  9. Triages calls and assists in any immediate crisis situations.
  10. Adhere to all Beacon policies and procedures and standards of operations.
  11. Completes all required and assigned trainings.
  12. Attend all mandatory company or department meetings.
  13. Report to each scheduled shift and commence work and perform essential job function at the start of each schedule shift.
  14. Displays a positive, constructive, and helpful demeanor that is conducive to a safe and respectful work environment.
  15. Performs special projects and other duties as assigned and required.

What you Contribute?

Education: High school diploma or GED required.  Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, and/or Sociology) preferred.

Licensure: N/A

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • A minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in behavioral health or other social services environment required.
  • Must have experience using management information systems including knowledge of Word and Excel PowerPoint strongly preferred
  • Experience with high volume phone calls preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills and proper phone etiquette skills required
  • Position requires knowledge of general office environment
  • Bilingual Preferred
