About the Position:

We are currently seeking a dynamic part-time Associate Medical Director to join our Arkansas team.  The Associate Medical Director assists the Medical Director in providing quality, cost-effective utilization management for medical, mental he alth and alcohol/drug rehabilitation services.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of utilization management policies and procedures to support whole-person medical management objectives.
  • Educates peer physicians and Care Managers about utilization management policies and procedures. Works with medical/clinical staff on outlier management issues and corrective actions.
  • Assists in developing and evaluating the collection and analysis of data and formulation of clinical utilization.
  • Provides medical leadership to the clinical provider network and clinical and Intensive Case Management staff.
  • May assist in and coordinates the development and design of performance standards, clinical policies and procedures, and utilization management clinical criteria.
  • Assists in monitoring and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements as they relate to access and medical care issues.

Position Requirements:

  • Education : Must meet education requirements established by AR State Medical Board for issuance of AR professional license. 
  • Licensure :  Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of AR, and have ABPN Board certification in Psychiatry, ABFM or ABIM certification in Family or Internal Medicine. Additional Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferred. American Board of Addiction Medicine certification preferred. Dual training in primary care and/or family medicine preferred but not required.
  • Relevant Work Experience:  5 years of clinical practice in mental health required.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Experience at a mental health facility with inpatient and outpatient care is preferred.
    • Familiarity with medical care delivery systems, and experience with utilization management, quality improvement, and peer review is preferred. 
    • Knowledge, experience, and demonstrated success in medical/clinical management operations in a managed care environment is preferred.
    • Demonstrates skills suitable to working with contracts, provider relations, and member services and interpreting benefits.
    • Excellent written and oral communication organizational skills.
    • Detail orientated, able to work independently in an ever changing environment.
    • Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook
