ABOUT THE POSITION

We are currently seeking a dynamic HEALTHCARE INFORMATICS RESEARCH ANALYST to join our team at our office in BOSTON, MA.  The HEALTHCARE IMFOMATICS RESEARCH ANALYST is primarily responsible for designing and implementing analyses and evaluations to provide further insights into areas for quality improvement, policy analysis, and clinical outcomes.  The position requires the ability to work independently on complex analytic projects and to work collaboratively with other analysts as well as Beacon Health Options Executive Leadership team. The ideal candidate should have a history of creating analytic models and conducting evaluations of interventions and/or policies across the Beacon Health Options Enterprise organization or within a specific market). Experience working with large, complex healthcare data sets such as behavioral health and medical claims, authorization data, and clinical management detail. This individual will work closely with developers to create data extracts for their analysis. The individual will also be responsible for presenting results and preparing presentations for Analytics Innovation Center leadership and to the relevant business partners (e.g., Quality, Corporate Strategy).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze data sets and produce statistical reports for internal stakeholders for the purposes of evaluating the impact of clinical and quality initiatives.

  • Use statistical software packages (R, SAS, Stata) and excel for target setting and predictive modeling.

  • Assist with design of observational studies for evaluation projects. Plan and conduct evaluations of interventions and policy changes as prioritized by BHO.

  • Access, learn, and share information on the use of literature and publicly available data sources to enhance and contextualize analyses.

  • Conduct literature reviews, as needed, to inform project development and AIC.

  • Serves as a key liaison between the AIC Analyses team and internal and external stakeholders.

  • Effectively establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of the parent and client organizations.
  • Strong analytic curiosity and innovative problem solving skills using a systems thinking approach.
  • Creative problem solving skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer focus and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage concurrent data projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Represent BEACON at applicable activities including multi-system user groups and other health data system organizations, such as MA APCD, HEDIS working groups and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through self-directed learning activities focused on both technology and the business of healthcare.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree in a related field required (basic science, engineering, statistics, psychology, public health, epidemiology, health services, health informatics, etc.)

Relevant Work Experience: 

  • 4 to 6 years as an analyst with a working knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, STATA)
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical concepts including propensity scores, multilevel modeling, machine learning.
  • Experience in independently conceptualizing and executing a study from start to finish.
  • 4+ years’ experience in the healthcare and/or insurance industry is required; behavioral health experience a plus.
  • Communicates effectively in both verbal (i.e. day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written (reports, papers and presentations) form, as well as have an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a dynamic team structure.
