We are currently seeking a dynamic Assistant Vice President, Network Strategy to join our team at our office in Boston, MA.  The AVP, Network Strategy The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Network Strategy is responsible for leading the development of an analytics function for Beacon’s provider network teams. This role reports to the SVP, Network Strategy, and is a key participant in evaluating annual network performance and supporting P&L owners in evaluating and support high-performance of network providers. The AVP Network Strategy will work closely with other AVPs/VPs on the Network Strategy team to develop the strategy and build an execution roll-out of the specific projects listed above for 2017, and a new set of projects/programs for 2018.

The AVP will be expected to directly supervise at least one staff member and indirectly supervise multiple other team members in other departments who will be working on and supporting the Network Strategy work. The AVP must be able to work with analysts in other department to actually pull and run data, and must use indirect influence, coaching and support to build strong working relationships to get access to data. The AVP is not expected to be a “coder” or to generate analytic assets independently, though experience with SQL or other programming is a positive.


Drive network analytics into the day-to-day functioning of network, operations, client and strategy teams. Bring actionable data to bear to help network and clinical decision-making.

Target outcomes

  1. Partner with analytics team to build a network dashboard of cost and utilization by market and client, by October 1, 2017
  2. Drive providers to adopt member-reported outcomes tools, with 10 providers onboarded and using member-outcomes tools in each of MA and NH by July 1, 2017, a third Medicaid state by October 1, 2017, and drive utilization of outcomes-tools for 200 employer providers by October 1, 2017
  3. Build a draft for a provider STARS-like evaluation tool, in participation with a chosen vendor, by September 1, 2017
  4. In partnership with value-based payments operating team, build and operationalize provider reporting tools to validate clinical activities by August 1, 2017
  5. Oversee deployment of Provider Satisfaction Survey across all Beacon providers by June 1 each year; generate reports for clients by October 1 of each year (including 2017)
  6. Develop the analytic model and network products for pay-for-performance and other VBP tools, with the goal of having specific products to roll-out via Beacon’s contracting teams by July 1, 2017, in preparation for January 1, 2018 implementation
  7. Support Network Strategy team in the development of “business cases” to support programs and projects
  8. Identify 1-2 “A” players to join Beacon each year

Position Requirements:

Education: Post-graduate degree, specifically MBA, preferred 

Relevant Work Experience:   At least 2-3 years’ operational experience and post-graduate degree (MBA preferred) required. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, analytic savvy and management skills are necessary. The AVP must be comfortable working in a matrix organization and must be comfortable leveraging and influencing indirect reports in order to accomplish goalpost-MBA management consulting experience, including supervision of teams. Healthcare project work highly valued; investment banking experience a plus.
